I know we are all on the hunt to finding our purpose and fulfilling our destiny. We want to know the secrets to success and live the dream we’ve always envisioned for our lives. But somewhere, somehow, life knocks us in the mouth along the way and we are faced with complexities and difficulties that interrupt us. In moments like these, doubt starts to creep in and you suddenly wish to start listening to that voice that says you can’t do it, or that it’s child’s play and that you need a reality check. The easiest thing to do when things don’t seem to be going right and every obstacle is coming your way, is to submit and give up. Go find something else that is easier and filled with fewer disappointments. No one will fault you when you walk away and give up because you failed, in fact people will understand.
But the DIFFICULT thing is getting up and continuing to push forward and working towards your dream regardless. When you keep getting ‘No’s’ and disappointments, and you keep saying YES! When you don’t get the backing you want, but you believe in yourself so strongly... Go out and do it anyway. It’s scary and it’s frightening, but you’re choosing to be great in that moment.
You love what you do, and it may not make sense to everybody else, but it makes sense to you. Even when you are plagued with setback after setback, you keep going. It takes a lot of heart and courage to look beyond that crazy stuff and remain focused. You have to keep going. Don’t give up yourself. Don’t give up on your dream. You could be closer to the breakthrough you need but you won’t know that if you quit. Don’t do the honorable thing and bow out, but all means possible go on guns blazing even with the little that you have.
Greatness isn’t something that’s bestowed on certain types of people; it’s within every single one of us. But the road to that is not easy. The easy road reaps no reward because anybody can do it. The challenge lies in doing the difficult things: choosing to be great when all you want to do is sit in a corner and yell out in frustration because you can’t put the pieces together to solve the problem. A smooth sea never made a great sailor. Be thankful for the rough seas. By triumphing over the difficulties we develop character and strength. You were made for such a time as this. Choose to do the difficult things and believe in yourself and walk tall. Choose to be GREAT!
